CONTEXT

Stanford, Humboldt and UC Davis (and Cal and Chico State) all compete in the DI Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference’s West competition. There’s also a PMRC North that includes Pacific Northwest teams. At the end of league season, these two pools with contest crossover games that will name representatives to the USA Rugby DI Spring College regional championship. This year, spring regionals will begin at the quarterfinal round, and thus a western and eastern location will accommodate the eight teams.

Despite the confusing nomenclature, there is no 15s national championship for USA Rugby’s women’s colleges. The country is split into a fall championship (Air Force Academy is the current DI titleholder) and a spring championship. Other organizations – NSCRO, NIRA – hold national championships.
