MacKinnon, Barber Reinforce Loggers

  • 12 Feb 2019

Carly MacKinnon and Lauren Barber have returned to lead the Washington Loggers, and they’re beginning the 2019 cycle with a trip to the Vancouver Sevens Invitational (VSI) on March 7-8 (see player pool below). The duo’s continued involvement is also an extension of the Seattle Saracens’ connection with the state all-stars, and brings more stability and direction to the program.

“Our goal is to develop girls rugby in the state. Yes, it’s a select side but we can also provide resources and chances for girls to get better regardless of selection,” the coach explained. “We asked three girls to continue to train with the 12 [selected for VSI] to, first, prepare them for how 7s and competition teams work, and continue their training in case of emergency or injury; and, second, to continue to work with these athletes so they can develop for their own seasons and for future Loggers events.”

The 12 players selected to the VSI will emerge from the following player pool. MacKinnon encourages any donor/sponsor to consider supporting an athlete with financial restrictions or the program as a whole. For more info, e-mail MacKinnon at
