New York, NY – The Northeast Academy will be conducting its annual USA Rugby National Tracking Camp (NTC) and Combine on June 11-12, 2016. Hospitality for the weekend is provided by the Saratoga Rugby Club, home to one of the country’s premier rugby training grounds.
The NTC is an open tryout for ambitious rugby athletes to become a part of the Northeast’s official player pathway in the USA Rugby High Performance Development system. As such, there will be USA Rugby coaches and selection committee members on hand, along with scouts and coaches from PRO Rugby North America, the Northeast Academy itself and the Empire Geographic Union Select Side, all of whom are actively scouting talent for their respective high performance pipeline structures.
Registration for the event is open to men and women from any division of high School, college and adult senior division competitions. The combine/tryout portion of the event begins early Saturday morning and runs deep into the afternoon. Later that evening, a coaches’ round table will take place for any and all regional coaches and/or officers to discuss and work on continuing the upward momentum of USA and Northeast regional rugby development.
Sunday, June 12 will then see the first Empire Cup competition, a one-day tournament featuring men’s and women’s select sides from the DII and DIII Empire GU regions (Upstate NY, New Jersey, New York City, Southern Connecticut). It will serve as a selection vehicle to the Empire GU Select Side, which will compete at the Can-Am tournament in Saranac Lake, N.Y.
Registration for the event is now open via the HiPer Database, and details regarding travel and housing arrangements, courtesy of Saratoga Rugby Club, and be found via Athlete Housing. Visit the Northeast Academy for more information or contact Eric Huss (518-496-6662) directly.
