Medina Defense Paves Way to Rugby Ohio 7s Championship

“When you play in adverse conditions, we say, ‘Defense travels,’” said Ben Pfahl, the Medina High School girls’ rugby coach. “Even if we can’t do a lot of the things we were planning to do on offense, if you play solid defense, that works in the mud, that works in the rain, that works in the wind.”

The Rugby Ohio Girls’ High School 7s Championship occurred on a cool and muddy day in late October, and by the time the tournament reached the final, it was a battle of attrition. Medina (pronounced Meh-DIE-na) stayed true . . .
