The Tri-State conference has concluded its wild card playoffs, and this weekend’s quarterfinals are now set. The New York-based league is currently slated to receive three seeds at the DII college fall Round of 32, which begins Nov. 12.
The top four teams in the league received automatic byes into the quarterfinals, and the remaining eight teams competed in last weekend’s play-ins. RPI posted the biggest win, ending New Paltz’s season with a 53-5 decision. RPI will face Marist College in the Round of 8. Hofstra wasn’t far behind in terms of point differential and defeated Fordham 62-17 for the quarterfinal berth against Albany. Fairfield beat Binghamton 38-15 and will travel to Poughkeepsie this weekend to face Vassar. Montclair forfeited to Siena, and so the Albany-based team will travel to Stony Brook for Sunday’s quarterfinals.
The conference semifinals will be held Sunday, Oct. 30 at two separate locations, and then the four teams will reunite Saturday, Nov. 5 to determine places one through four. The DII college fall playoffs begin the following weekend, and three Tri-State teams will advance. The conference champion is currently slated to host Upstate New York’s runner-up, while Tri-State #2 will host an at-large team. The conference’s third-place team is currently scheduled to travel to the Great Lake champion, which will very likely be Davenport University, the DII national champion.
