MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Youth Rugby (MYR) has officially established a three-year partnership with the Minnesota Tundra Rugby Academy to become the official provider of MYR’s high school high performance (select-side) programming for both 15s and 7s.
The formal partnership, effective immediately, will provide MYR members access to Tundra’s year-round competitive rugby opportunities, as well as individually tailored programs for player and coach development.
“Launching our partnership with the Tundra Rugby Academy is an exciting step forward in streamlining the pathway for Minnesota rugby athletes. Moving forward, Tundra will be the official select-side provider,” said MYR Executive Director Sean Lindersmith.
“By joining forces, MYR can focus our efforts on growing our players and coaches locally and also support their growth with year round high performance opportunities with the Tundra Rugby Academy.”
Hosted in Blaine, Minn., August 11-12, the 2017 National High School 7s Invitational, a USA Rugby-sanctioned event hosted by MYR in conjunction with the 2017 USA Rugby Emirates Airline Club 7s National Championship, will be the first event to benefit from this partnership. Sixty athletes will be selected to fill four teams which will compete across the boys and girls competitions.
“Our goal with this partnership is to continue to empower young people through rugby by providing a top-quality focus on individual growth and development,” said Jimmy Hanson, Tundra’s co-founder and current Vice-President. “We are excited to rekindle our partnership with MYR.”Interested in playing at the 2017 National High School 7s Invitational with Tundra?
