NIRA Names Post-Season Match-ups

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Dartmouth College was selected as the number one overall seed for the 2017 National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) postseason tournament after going undefeated this season.

The Big Green will square off against seventh-seeded American International College (AIC) in the NIRA quarterfinals on Saturday, November 11.

Two-seed Quinnipiac University will face six-seed Norwich University. The third quarterfinal matchup will pit fourth-seeded Army at West Point against fifth-seeded Harvard University.

The three-seed in Central Washington University has earned a bye directly into the semifinals and awaits the winner of Quinnipiac/Norwich.

2017 will mark the first season in which the league’s Tier 2 participants will square off in the inaugural NIRA Cup Championship. University of New England emerged as the top-seeded Tier 2 program and will host Bowdoin College on Saturday, November 11 in the one-game championship.

Full postseason matchups and game times are listed below. Quarterfinal rounds will be held at the campus of the higher seed. Quinnipiac will host the semifinal and championship games on Friday, November 17 and Sunday, November 19 respectively.

Quarterfinals – Saturday, November 11#7 American International College at #1 Dartmouth College – 2 p.m.#6 Norwich University at #2 Quinnipiac University – 11 a.m.#5 Harvard University at #4 Army at West Point – T.B.D.

NIRA Cup (Tier 2 Championship) – Saturday, November 11Bowdoin College at University of New England – 12 p.m.

Semifinals – Friday, November 17 – Game Times T.B.D.#3 Central Washington University vs. Winner of Quinnipiac/NorwichWinner of Dartmouth/AIC vs. Winner of Army/Harvard

Finals – Sunday, November 19 – 12 p.m.
