
Chico State has guaranteed its berth to the DI Spring Round of 16
There was one move in this edition of the DI Spring College Ranking. Teams are winding up their regular seasons and waiting to hear where they’ll be playing their Spring Round of 16 games.
Darby McFall, Hannah Westfall and Stefani Bergerhouse scored three tries apiece in Chico State’s 55-0 win over Stanford – a result that forced a drop in the ranking for the Cardinal. Undefeated Chico State takes the Pacific Mountain’s top seed into the DI Spring Round of 16 and does not have to participate in the PMRC playoffs. Read more from Hannah Manoucheri.
In the PMRC North, Washington State extended its winning streak to four, defeating Western Washington 44-17. Inside center Erica Chandler and wing Meg Padget scored two tries apiece, while prop Morgan Gehrke, scrumhalf Alex Denzinger, outside center Rebecca Landron and wing Alexie Smith dotted down one try apiece. Flyhalf Monae Hendrickson kicked two conversions. Western Washington’s points came from try-scorers Ireland Gamble and JoAnna O’Neill (2), and kicker Kaylie Gladwell.
Right on the Cougars’ heels, Oregon State defeated Washington 77-12. The back three of Sophia Betts (2), Marissa Young (3) and Alexandrea Miller (2) combined for seven tries, and lock Julia Bonder also had a two-try performance. Centers Patricia Johnson and Constance Parker, and No. 8 Alexandra Fautanu scored one try apiece. The PMRC North will contest its final round of league play this weekend.

UVA was idle but traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the LVI under 7s coach Dana Creager. The team beat Colorado 17-5 and Utah Valley 19-15 on day one and lost to Notre Dame College 24-7.
UC Santa Barbara and Grand Canyon were idle, and the two undefeated teams will meet this weekend in SoCal to determine the top team in the DI Gold Coast. Also idle, UC Davis will play its final league game this weekend against Humboldt, and Virginia Tech is heading to Savannah for the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament.
Central Florida is still untouchable in DI Florida and banked a 92-7 win over Florida State. Flanker Christina Norman and No. 8 Donneisha Smith (3) accounted for the pack tries, while outside center Cortney Kuehl (3), wing Jessica Warner (2), wing Agnes Fuerst (3), replacement center Julia Mortellaro (2), flyhalf Jennifer Fasano and fullback Amanda Loughlin also scored tries. Inside center Madeleine Ross kicked four first-half conversions, and Kuehl added a second-half two-pointer.
