
South Bay is starting its Southern California club 15s season in winning fashion, taking home the U18 title at the Fullerton International Invitational Tournament last weekend. Many of the players who propelled Carson High School to a SoCal high school 7s title, as well as two LVI 7s titles, are Spartans during the club 15s season.

On day one, South Bay U18s defeated Fallbrook 24-5, St. John’s from Canada 52-0, and Coastal Dragons 22-7. On day two, South Bay played NorCal’s Mother Lode in the semifinals and won 36-0. That victory set up a rematch against Fallbrook in the final, and the Spartans triumphed 33-5.
“We came to the Fullerton Tournament with hopes of improving and getting more familiar with 15-a-side. This is only our core group’s second week officially playing 15s together,” South Bay coach Myron Mailo explained. “We ended up surpassing our expectations and dominating all competition when it mattered the most.”SoCal’s high school club 15s season resumes this weekend, and the championship will occur May 12.
