Several DSHA alumnae are on the team.

The Wisco Ladies is using Lakefront 7s as a debut fixture and hopes the overall experience builds into something special. Led by coaches Joseph Garcia and Trevor Hergurt, the duo has assembled a group of talented U24 players to play summer 7s and will compete in this weekend’s women’s club division.

“The team’s ultimate goal is to begin participating in Vegas 7s and other tournaments throughout the nation,” explained Garcia, who credited the “hard work and determination of a group of elite young athletes,” with the team’s existence.

“We are really looking into the possibility of turning this into something big,” the coach added.

Former Divine Savior Holy Angles (DSHA) Meg Walker, a current University of Marquette player, is captaining the team alongside Milwaukee Scylla’s Anisa Feto, who joined Stars to the National Development Academy 7s tournament in Chula Vista, Calif. They lead a team that consists of several Marquette players as well as notables from the Wisconsin Girls Rugby League, including those with roots at DSHA, Bruisers and Oak Creek.

There are never too many options for young players wanting to play next-level ball, so best of luck to Wisco Ladies in their first 7s outing.
