4 Champs Raise NAI 7s Cups

Majestics rugby

The annual North American Invitational (NAI) 7s took over Salt Lake City’s Regional Athletic Center from Friday-Saturday, July 25-26, and the tournament named champions in four girls’ divisions. The Majestics, Sac AIR Amazons, Utah Cannibals and Belmont Shore took home Cup trophies in the various age-grade competitions. U18 ELITE

The U18 division combined its Elite and Open teams on day one. For day two, the top layer of teams moved into the Elite division for its knockouts, while the remainder played toward the Open title. The Majestics out of Utah won the U18 Elite trophy, and in convincing fashion.

U18 OPEN

The 24 U18 squads were divided into six pools of four teams apiece. Everyone played three games during day-one pool play, and then the top-six moved into the Elite bracket on day two. The remaining 18 teams faced each other for the U18 Open title. The Sacramento AIR Amazons won gold, defeating the Utah Cannibals in the Cup final.

U16

The girls’ U16 competition included 10 teams divided into two pools. Everyone played their four pool games and then moved immediately to placing matches. The teams that topped the standings in each pool played for first; the second-place teams in each pool played for 3rd; etc. The Utah Cannibals took down SoCal’s Lakewood Patriots for the U16 trophy.
