The USA Women’s National Team will face France tomorrow, Friday, in Montpelier for the second and final test of the Eagles’ tour. The Americans suffered a 36-10 loss (read more) on Tuesday, and will look for some redemption in the rematch.
“We had some really nice play overall,” USA captain Hope Rogers reflected on Tuesday’s test. “Our set piece was good. We just need to work on finishing; being more patient on attack and converting good play into points inside the 22. The team was disappointed in the loss, but we had a lot of great [take-aways] that will allow us to keep growing and getting better. I’m proud of everyone for the work and effort. Each game we play, we truly get better.”
The USA has made two changes to the roster (see below), as Abby Gustaitis replaces Alycia Washington at lock, and Naya Tapper replaces Kelsi Stockert at wing. France has made nine changes from Tuesday’s roster (read more).
Once the tour ends, Alev Kelter, Joanne Fa’avesi, Kate Zackary and Tapper will trade in their 15s jerseys for 7s kit, as the quartet will join the USA 7s team in Dubai for the opening round of the 2016-17 HSBC Women’s Sevens Series.
Friday’s match between the USA and France will be broadcast on The Rugby Channel at 3 p.m. EST.
