By Saturday’s end, the 16-team field for the women’s Club 7s National Championship will be known. The Pacific North and Midwest are holding their respective championships, and the regions account for the final five vacancies.
Five teams from the Pacific Northwest and Northern California will converge on Treasure Island, San Francisco, for the Pacific North club 7s championship. At present, three teams will advance to the national championship on Aug. 13-14 in Commerce City, Colo.
Life West, Berkeley and San Jose represent NorCal, while ORSU and Seattle hail from the Pacific Northwest. The five teams will play each other in round-robin format before the placing matches, totaling five games on the day. The Pacific North recently regained its third seed after Hawaii was removed from the national championship.

The Midwest was poised to host six teams in its regional championship but just received word that Grand Rapids was pulling up due to numbers. With only five teams, Saturday’s championship will now mimic the Pacific North: round robin play, seeding, and then #1 vs. #2 for the title, and #3 vs. #4. The fifth-place team will be done for the day. Removing the Gazelles from the final standings, the Midwest series ended with 1823 in first with 33 points, followed by the Chicago Griffins (32), Youngbloodz (31), Cincinnati (28) and Chicago Lions (26).
The Midwest receives two seeds to the national championship and therefore the finalists will advance.
South runner-up Charlotte just announced that it has withdrawn from nationals, and Phoenix will attend in its place. The pools were reworked after Hawaii was replaced, however, another reconfiguration is not necessary, since the South #2 seed is 16th overall. See below for the current groupings.
