The 2021-22 series began with two tournaments in Dubai, where the USA finished 7th and 5th, respectively. The Eagles sit in fifth place with 20 points in the series standings. When the team returns to international play in Malaga, it will face Pool B opponents Canada and New Zealand, which did not feature in Dubai, on Friday, Jan. 21; and then Fiji on Saturday, Jan. 22. The Cup quarterfinals close out Saturday play, and then semifinals and final placing matches occur Sunday.

The outcome of Malaga 7s will determine the pools for Seville 7s. At that juncture, the men’s and women’s series diverge a bit. The men’s calendar includes tournaments in Vancouver, Los Angeles and Singapore, while the women’s series is dormant for three months before reactivating in Langford, Canada (April 30-May 1). With that said, there’s traditionally a USA Falcons team competing in the LA 7s invitational but those details have not yet been confirmed.
