PRESS RELEASE

The 2020 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season had been scheduled to kick off the weekend of August 29, 2020, but the league’s representatives held a vote and have decided to postpone in the interest of health and safety of the players and their families.

More discussions will now be held with the representatives to develop the new timeline taking into consideration local health mandates of each of the 10 major cities across the country as well as World Rugby and USA Rugby return to play protocols and World Health Organization and CDC guidelines.

We are also working together with the Women’s High Performance group at USA Rugby to align to support players’ ability to maximize prep for the 2021 World Cup. As a top league in the country we feel it is as important as ever to take the health and safety of our athletes very seriously. More details to follow.
