The Central Washington vs. Quinnipiac match highlighted the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) action last weekend, while New England’s win over Bowdoin also garnered attention. Dartmouth also remained unscathed in both NIRA and the Ivy League with its win over Harvard.
The league points-scored tally has also been updated; remember that only NIRA games are included in the list. Athletic departments’ write-ups are linked in the box scores.

CENTRAL WASHINGTON 31-22 QUINNIPIAC
The Wildcats and Bobcats have developed a nice relationship and continue to trade tense games on both coasts. Quinnipiac had won the previous contest – the 2016 NIRA championship – but Central Washington took the first meeting of 2017. Central Washington established a 10-point lead before Quinnipiac got on the board, but the Bobcats for the most part stayed within one score of the hosts. The game essentially ended on a recalled Quinnipiac try, building even more anticipation for the teams’ rematch in Connecticut on Oct. 21.
The match marked Central Washington’s first NIRA game of the season, and thus the Wildcats are now represented on the league-wide scoring tally (see more).
