ATLANTA, GA — Boob Protect (boobprotect.us), the groundbreaking brand dedicated to protecting female athletes through innovative breast protection gear, is proud to announce the launch of its Athlete Ambassador Program in the United States. The program kicks off with two standout collegiate rugby players from Life University—Liberty Benitez and A.J. Haughey—who will help lead the charge in changing how breast health and protection are addressed in high-impact sports.

These trailblazing athletes will serve as the first official ambassadors for Boob Protect’s mission to raise awareness and provide real solutions to an issue long overlooked in women’s athletics.

A Hidden but Widespread Problem

Despite being a common occurrence, breast injuries in sport are significantly underreported and undertreated. Research shows that up to 50% of female athletes across a range of sports have experienced breast-related injuries, yet most go unreported, unaddressed, and often untreated. In high-contact sports like rugby, the problem is even more acute. A 2025 study published in the European Journal of Sport Science found that 58% of elite female rugby players surveyed had sustained a breast injury, with more than 90% never seeking medical attention. The study cited lack of awareness, stigma, and an absence of standard protective equipment as major contributing factors.

These findings underscore the urgent need for both innovation and education – exactly what Boob Protect and its Ambassadors are working to deliver.

Meet Liberty Benitez: Precision Playmaker, Relentless Advocate

Liberty Benitez is a rising star and commanding Fly-Half for the Life University women’s rugby team, where she brings vision, precision, and calm under pressure to every game. Set to graduate in 2027, Liberty is already making her mark as a strategic playmaker and reliable leader on the field. Raised in a large, close-knit family, she carries a deep sense of resilience, strength, and community into her game—qualities that mirror the spirit of women’s rugby and align powerfully with Boob Protect’s Mission to empower and protect female athletes. As an ambassador, Liberty champions the importance of breast health and protective gear in sport, helping to drive honest conversations and real change for the next generation of players.

“There are so many cases of health problems for women because of lack of protection,” said Liberty. “I would hate to see this continue when we can help. It’s time for women’s gear to finally meet the demands of women’s sports.”

“Boob Protect fits comfortably and doesn’t move at all during play. I feel more confident and fully protected, allowing me to just focus on my game.”

Meet A.J. Haughey: Pioneering with Purpose

A.J. Haughey is a standout women’s rugby player at Life University, where she anchors the back row for both the XVs and 7s squads. Originally from California, A.J. is recognized for her relentless work ethic, natural leadership, and national-level impact. She has earned honors as a USA Rugby All-American First Team selection and a member of the USA U20 Women’s National Team. As a proud Boob Protect ambassador, A.J. is committed to leveling the playing field and advocating for greater protection and recognition for female athletes.

“Breast protection has been non-existent for too long in almost all woman’s sports. Now that Boob Protect has an affordable and easily accessible product available there’s no reason that women should have to worry about breast injuries.” said A.J. “I never knew that breast protection was even an option until I was introduced to boob protect. In my position In rugby I’m in contestant aggressive contact and I am now much more confident when making tackles then I was before because I have adequate breast protection.”

Building a Movement, Not Just a Brand

The Boob Protect Athlete Ambassador Program is open to individual athletes and teams across all levels—from high school and club sports to collegiate and professional play. The initiative provides a platform for athletes passionate about change—both on and off the field—and seeks to build a community of leaders committed to performance, protection, and long-term health.

Boob Protect will also soon announce its first Team Ambassador, further expanding its presence across women’s sports.

“The Athlete Ambassador Program is a vital step in building a community of strong, vocal leaders who can help normalize the conversation around breast health in sport,” said Suzie Betts, Founder of Boob Protect. “By partnering with inspiring athletes like Liberty and A.J., we’re not just promoting protective gear—we’re creating a movement. These ambassadors are using their voices and platforms to advocate for the protection, confidence, and long-term health all female athletes deserve.”

ABOUT

Boob Protect – The First Breast Protection for All Sports
Suzie Betts launched Boob Protect after her own experience with breast trauma caused by breast impacts playing sports in her youth. Realizing that many female athletes may unknowingly face long-term breast health issues like she experienced from playing sports, and with two daughters playing contact sports, she decided to take action. Working with experts in medicine, sports as well as female athletes, Suzie developed prototypes which she later patented to launch Boob Protect, filling a crucial gap in female sports protection. The inserts are thin, lightweight, designed to ‘cup’ the breasts for support and fit comfortably in any sports bra, alleviating impacts and preventing injuries that can affect both on-field performance and participation in sports for female athletes. Boob Protect inserts also negate the potential for long-term breast health issues from impacts in sports. Suzie’s message to athletes, parents and coaches is clear: “Prioritizing breast health can prevent pain and serious health issues down the line. Don’t wait to make breast protection a part of every female athlete’s equipment.”
