[Updated: Sept. 25, 2025] An initial coach search produced three solid candidates who for all different reasons had to withdraw from consideration. Thus, the interview and vetting process has resumed for a season that is already underway.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (CPSLO) is actively seeking a new head coach for its women’s rugby program. Zach Markow is leaving the role after a stellar career that included back-to-back 15s national championships, among many other accolades.
The Mustangs are the two-time reigning CRAA Division II 15s national champions and finished 3rd at the CRAA club 7s division this May. In 2025-26, CPSLO and will compete in the Division I Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference in NorCal. Opposition will include the 2024 and 2025 DI national champion Stanford University as well as 2025 DI runner-up Cal.
The coaching role is a full-time position with pay commensurate with experience. Applicants must be at least a Level 1 coach with 2-4 years’ experience coaching women’s collegiate rugby.
