While USA Women’s 7s team was overseas in Sydney for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, USA Rugby Women’s High Performance Director Emilie Bydwell led a developmental camp at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center.

The group in southern California involved contracted 7s athletes, WCAP members, 15s Eagles, DI Elite and NIRA collegians, and two U18s.

Kneeling: Ashlee Byrge (WCAP), Alena Olsen (USA 7s), Lauren Thunen, Sarah Levy (New York), Richelle Stephens (Lindenwood).

Front row: Taryn Turner (Elk Grove), Jaz Gray (USA 7s), Meya Bizer (USA 7s).

Still need to pinpoint a couple of players, including Thunen, who graduated UCSB last spring, and Toliver, who has been playing abroad in Japan, in terms of their current location and team. TRB is also interested in U18 Turner, who started popping up at the training center in fall 2019.

The USA Falcons have entered a side in the senior elite bracket of the Los Angeles Invitational 7s, so it’s likely that several of these athletes will feature on the representative side.
