Prairie States Wins NSCRO 7s

The National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) held its 2nd annual All-Star 7s Championship, and the final featured 2018 champion South and runner-up Prairie States. This year, however, the two conferences swapped finishes, as Prairie States took home a 25-7 victory over the local South team.

The 12 teams were divided into four groups, making for two pool play games per team. Then the teams were re-seeded, the top-eight teams moved onto the quarterfinals, and the bottom-four contested a consolation round robin.

The four teams that won their pools – Prairie States, South, Upstate New York and Mid-Atlantic – won their respective quarterfinals, although the Colonial Coast pushed Mid-Atlantic to a 17-12 thriller. Equal drama was felt in the South’s 10-5 semifinal win over Upstate New York, while Prairie States knocked out Mid-Atlantic 17-5.

The games that preceded the final did well to build the anticipation, as Colonial Coast beat Texas 19-10 for 7th, Eastern Pennsylvania topped Ohio Valley 12-10 for 5th, and Upstate New York bettered Mid-Atlantic 24-5 for 3rd.

Additionally, Great Waters won the Consolation Round Robin, going 3-0 and outscoring opponents 89-5. Full results below:
