GUELPH, ON. – The Girls High School All-American Sevens (U18) will assemble tomorrow at the University of Guelph for a NextGen Sevens East competition in Canada. Led by Ryszard Chadwick, the 12-player All-American team will feature athletes from the East Coast United States, following an assembly held last weekend for U18s from the West Coast.

After arriving in Guelph tomorrow alongside the senior U.S. Women’s National Team, the Girls High School All-Americans (U18) will spend Friday preparing for two days of matches on Saturday and Sunday. A schedule will be confirmed by the host union in the coming days.

The competition in Canada will mark the second gathering for the GHSAA Sevens this year, with additional events to be held for the GHSAA Fifteens this summer.

Head Coach Ryszard Chadwick said: “This is a great opportunity for players to experience an international tour and what makes this even more special is that they will be side by side with the senior U.S. Women’s National Team”

“Within the HSAA program, General Manager Emilie Bydwell and Director Martha Daines have done a great job building a focus and creating a mindset shift for the athletes towards not ‘where are they now’ and more focused on ‘where they could be’ as players. Assembling alongside the senior team, the All-Americans can see first hand where they could be.

“This is an exciting opportunity as it takes the pressure of performance away from the younger generation and allows them and coaches to focus on development and growth.”

While a live stream will not be available for the NextGen Sevens East, updates will be communicated across on twitter.com/usarugby or through a hashtag search for GHSAA7s.
