The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) has named its Tier 1, Tier 2 and Division III all-conference teams for the 2019 season. NIRA is home to the country’s NCAA varsity programs, and Harvard University (Tier 1), West Chester University (Tier 2) and Bowdoin College (DIII) were all crowned national 15s champions in November.
Tier 1 national champion Harvard and DIII national champion Bowdoin College have seven representatives apiece on their respective All-NIRA teams, nine with the Honorable Mentions. In Tier 2, championship runner-up Brown University leads the top-15 with five selections, while titleholder West Chester has four. When adding in the Honorable Mentions, the Golden Rams have six players represented overall.
When NIRA resumes, the competition will be split into Division I, Division II and Division III, and will welcome new varsity members Alderson Broaddus (W.V.), Guilford College (N.C.), Lander University (S.C.), Manhattanville College (N.Y.) and Post University (Conn.).
