A Kelter Fend, Slowly, Painfully

Photographer Alex Ho has been crushing it at the Dubai 7s, the second stop on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, and sending across some lovely framed shots in the desert sun. The USA has made it easy to provide lots of ball-in-hand options, finishing pool play 3-0 with double-digit wins over Brazil, Russia and Canada.

Favorite stills include the low-high shots of Kristi Kirshe scoring one of four tries, with the jumbotron reflecting the action in the background; the hungry glare of Cheta Emba sizing up the next defender; and the cheeky grin of youngster Eti Haungatau, who scored her first two international 7s tries in pool play.

But if you had one shot to capture the intensity this is rugby, especially in tight, then focus your lens on Alev Kelter, who is a constant source for dominating collisions. Below, Ho slows down the painful, beautiful rugby fend, courtesy of Kelter, received by Canada’s Kayla Moleschi.
