HS rugby 15s nationals

The Girls’ High School 15s National Tournament is two months away, and the Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex in Madison is readying for the arrival of hundreds of players, coaches, parents, fans and media. The single-school event occurs Saturday-Sunday, May 18-19 and fields Division I and Division II competitions to accommodate any team that wants that national-level experience. At present, 13 teams have confirmed their attendance and there is room for up to three more attendees.

In alphabetical order, the following high school teams have committed to the annual 15s tournament, which began in 2000:

Catholic Memorial – Wisconsin
City Honors – Upstate New York
Columbia Central – Tennessee
Divine Savior Holy Angels – Wisconsin
Divine Savior Holy Angels JV – Wisconsin
Eagle – Idaho
Grandville – Michigan
Hamilton – Wisconsin
Hononegah Community HS – Illinois
Meridian – Idaho
Orchard Park – Upstate New York
Taft – Illinois
Warsaw Community HS – Indiana

Any team interested in attending what is inarguably the highest profile and longest-running girls’ high school 15s event should contact John Waliszewski at wisconsingirlsrugby@gmail.com ASAP, as the registration deadline is quickly approaching. And if you’re a high school club (i.e., multi-school team), contact Chris Kovak for the May 17-18 event occurring at the same location.

The single-school and club joint event is not to be missed. The facility is top-notch and a repeat host of USA Rugby national championships. College scouts, the Women’s Rugby Coaches & Referees Association and multiple rugby media outlets flock to the event, making it the perfect place to connect with the rugby world. If you can’t make it, USA Youth & High School is sponsoring the free livestream.
