The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) is many things. It’s home to the vast majority of NCAA varsity women’s rugby programs, but NIRA is also equal parts outreach, advocacy and growth. Since its inception in 2015, the number of NCAA varsity teams has grown from eight to 30. When there are 40 teams, women's rugby can begin the application process of moving from NCAA Emerging Sport to NCAA Championship sport. The straightaway in the SprintTo40 is visible.
