NEC7C champs Babson College

The New England Collegiate 7s Circuit (NEC7C) was able to contest six of 19 tournaments before COVID-19 cancelled rugby action and shut down campuses. Despite the abbreviated season, NEC7C commissioner Chip Auscavitch was able to name 1st and 2nd all-circuit teams.

NEC7C founder Auscavitch is an active referee so he’s literally in the middle of the action during the 7s series. Thus his familiarity with the field and athletes is reliable and provided the basis for the honorary teams. He then reached out to member coaches for further insight, and 24 players from 15 DI, DII and NSCRO schools were recognized. The two teams include 11 seniors, 8 juniors, two sophomores and three freshmen.

Babson College was named champion of the 2020 NEC7C, having won three of the four tournaments in which it competed and with a 17-2 record.
