The reigning Women’s Premier League (WPL) national champion no longer exists – in name, that is. When the City of Glendale ended its relationship with and support of its women’s rugby team, the Glendale Merlins dissolved and the Colorado Gray Wolves formed in its stead. The pandemic allowed the self-governance structures to build and provided time for players to learn new roles, and now it’s time to return to the WPL with its new identity.
