It was mostly subtle moves for the fourth round of the Division I Fall College Ranking, and the “watch list” refreshed as well.

The Air Force vs. Navy game that was supposed to occur in Annapolis did not take place, regrettably, so an opportunity to gauge the top-two positions was missed. This weekend, Navy plays Penn State, which beat DI-ranked Notre Dame 69-12 and Davenport 24-15 in a doubleheader last weekend – so there will be points of comparison.

Air Force reanimates this weekend against undefeated Wyoming, and a good showing from the watch-list team could put the squad in the top 12. Utah State 52-24 win over Montana State pushed the Bobcats off the list for now, so there’s room for another Rocky Mountain team.

The Big 10 only held one official league game last weekend but it was an important one. Indiana bested previously undefeated Michigan State 19-10. Stay tuned for more info from Redstorm head coach Vaughn Mitchell.

Even though the Irish have been playing close games with Big 10 counterparts, the team is still winless and the undefeated Texas teams were promoted. Also on the watch list is 2-0 Texas State. Similarly, Davenport advanced one position after the close loss to Penn State and Minnesota’s 22-10 loss to DII Winona State (read more).

In the Northeast, UCONN continued its dominating ways with a shutout against Rhode Island, while Northeastern remained idle after a two-point win over unranked UMASS. The Maddogs are active the next three weeks and end the season against the Huskies.

Princeton is circling the rankings, having banked a five-point win over unranked Boston in its season-opener and following with an 11-point win over DII Bloomsburg. This weekend’s game against Virginia Tech should lend more insight to the Josie Ziluca-led team.
