The championship season is alive among DII clubs, and several Geographic Union (GU) and Competitive Region (CR) playoffs are occuring this weekend. Below is a recap of the important games on April 13-14 and how those results will feed into future championships. DI update to come.

ATLANTIC NORTH

The New England GU named its champion, Providence, in the fall and Empire started the playoff process last weekend. The GU will name its champion on April 27, and then the Atlantic North championship will occur May 4.

FRONTIER

Three more league games to go before the Mid-America GU regular season ends, and then the top-four teams will head to Columbia, Mo., on May 4-5 for the semifinal/championships weekend. Here are the current standings.

MID-ATLANTIC

The top-two teams from the North and South competitions will advance to the crossover final four in Pittsburgh on May 4-5. Harrisburg (7-0) has guaranteed its spot, and the second North seed will be decided this weekend between Doylestown and Phoenixville (see standings). In the South, undefeated Severn River and 5-1 Norfolk have also booked their trips to the Steel City. See current standings.

MIDWEST

The CR named its champion in the fall: Buffalo.

PACIFIC NORTH

The CR includes the Pacific Northwest and Northern California GUs, and both are naming their DII champions this weekend. The two GU victors will then play each other for the Pacific North championship (May 4 in Idaho) to determine the rep to nationals.

April 13 Play-in

Pasadena @ Old Pueblo

RED RIVER

Still five league games to play but when it’s all said and done, the top-four teams will advance to the semifinals/championship weekend, May 4-5, in Dallas. Here are the current standings.

SOUTH

The Carolinas/Georgia, Florida and True South GUs comprise the South CR. Those three victors (and Carolinas/Georgia’s runner-up) will then come together on May 4-5 for the South championship in Savannah, Ga.

Carolinas / GA ... There are no crossover playoffs this year, so the GUs’ two reps to Souths will be decided on standings. Atlanta can’t be caught at 6-0 and 30 points, but the No. 2 spot has competition. Augusta (20 pts), Savannah (19) and Columbia (16) have one more matrix match apiece, and Eno River (15 pts), which has done an incredible job with bonus points, has two games.

Florida

Tampa Bay and Fort Miami will contest the final on April 20. It’ll mark the teams’ third meeting in a little over a month. Both teams have won at home and Fort Miami leads the series 36-19.

True South

The GU holds its final four this weekend:

April 13 semifinals

#1 Knoxville vs. #4 Memphis

#2 Nashville vs. #3 Louisiana Lagniappe

April 14 finals
