The DII College Spring Championship playoffs are filling out as league seasons end, and this year’s spring regionals will begin at the Round of 8, unlike recent years. The spring rankings will update through to the final on May 2.

Long Beach State played a competitive match against San Diego State, and the 31-10 decision locked up second place in the conference and berth to the western portion of the DII Spring College Regional Championship in Palo Alto, Calif. Conference winner Claremont College will take the top seed and join the West Coast conference leader(s).

In the West Coast, UN Reno and Humboldt State were within a try of each other by the turn of the fourth quarter, but the home side pulled away in the end for a 41-22 win. Flanker Sydney Beard, No. 8 Krista-Denise Matsumura (2), scrumhalf Mikayla Garrett, flyhalf Tori Jaques and wing Audrey Snow (2) scored tries for the Wolfpack, while fullback Hannah Hartmann (3) and inside center Madison Benson dotted down for the Lumberjacks. Cal Poly was also in action and crushed Sacramento State. The Mustangs will be the top seed into the conference final four.

Pittsburg State banked a valuable 72-35 matrix win against Missouri and is the favorite to win Mid-America. Scrumhalf Macy Williams led all point-scorers with 32 on four tries and six conversions. Inside center Sara Nicole (3), prop Kelsey Fuchs, flyhalf Aubrey Corn, outside center Adrea Shadbolt, wing Abigail Evans and fullback Hannah Reynolds also scored tries in the win.
