The Florida Geographic Union (GU) has readied a spring 2021 matrix season for its senior clubs and the women’s teams intend to start playing 15s in early February. DII and DIII men’s clubs begin even earlier on Jan. 23, but a couple of those games have already been canceled.

Florida hosts a five-team Division II competition for its senior women’s clubs, which play each other home-and-away during the regular season. The Florida playoffs are set for April 10, followed by the championship on April 24. The South Competitive Region championship has been penciled in for May 15, and that event would require coordination from the Carolinas, Georgia and True South GUs.

Thus far, Florida is the only women’s competition that has circulated plans for a 15s season this spring, and should the games evolve, they’ll be the first since Covid-19 halted the heavy-contact version of the sport in March 2020. USA Rugby has not released any information about the 2021 season and whether it will be hosting playoffs and championships this spring.
