History: Women’s Rugby WPL & Club 15s National Champions

  • 02 Jan 2016

There are three women’s rugby senior club competitions that name national 15s champions: Women’s Premier League, Division I and Division II. There are also Division III teams – most notably in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast – that play full seasons, but their competition culminates at the Super Regional stage, at least for now.

With USA Rugby’s reorganization, it’s USA Club Rugby that now runs the DI and DII competitions, while Women’s Premier League is a bit more autonomous and member-directed.

One note: There’s no champion listed in 2013 for the DI and DII competitions, because that’s the season when nationals shifted from the fall to the spring. For the 2021-22 season onward, the WPL is also contesting its season in the spring.
