Waterbury, Conn. – Post University is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacob Dilts as its new women’s rugby coach.

Dilts was most recently the head coach of the University of Hartford’s women’s rugby team where he led the Hawks to the quarterfinals of the Division II Nationals in Fall 2019.

Dilts has a bachelor degree in English from Central Connecticut State University and a Master’s degree in sport and event management from Southern Connecticut State University.

Coach Dilts helped start the Cheshire High School Rugby team (now Mid-State) and played for four years at Central Connecticut State University, two years as a captain.

He hopes to bring that same leadership as a player at CCSU to Post.

“I just want to bring a culture of positivity and success. Having the same mindset on and off the field will drive the program. If we can be success-driven we should all be able to achieve a common goal on and off the field.”

What attracted Dilts to Post was the school’s emphasis on making Rugby a priority and offering financial support for students.

“I’d like to encourage people around campus to come take a look and see us practice. If you are someone on campus looking for a new adventure, we will welcome you with open arms. To learn this sport and excel, in a four-year period is not uncommon. It is nice Post can provide scholarships and get them in the door. If you put in the hard work, you’ll have success on the field.”

Dilts is also a member of the Hartford Wanderers Rugby Club, a team he has been a part of for ten years. While playing for the Wanderers, Dilts also started Ronan Rugby in Hartford, helping introducing kids to the sport in the city.

“I am excited to build culture of the team at Post, putting like-minded people together. It will be hard at first, but once people see what’s going on here, they’ll want to join,” Dilts said.
