Last weekend, Lindenwood University sent teams to the Los Angeles Invitational and placed squads in the Women Elite and College Open. This weekend, the Lions sent its top squad to Canada for the Vancouver Sevens Invitational, the amateur tournament that precedes the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series event for the men, and won the Senior Women’s title.
On day one, Lindenwood beat Capilano 40-0 and Castaway 20-0 and then opened day two win a 17-12 loss to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. In the crossover match, the Lions eliminated University of Victoria 15-0 and then exacted revenge on UBC with a 29-10 title win.

Lindenwood now switches gears to 15s, returning to California to play the Berkeley All Blues on March 14 and then Chicago for North Shore on March 21. The DI Elite national semifinals occur on April 4 in Moraga, Calif.

The Stars were also in Canada, coming off a stellar showing at the LAI 7s, where the team fell 17-12 to the USA Falcons in the final. The Stars dropped its opener 26-12 to UBC, then beat Thunder Rugby 42-0 and University of Saskatchewan 21-0 in pool play. Day two started with a 33-12 with over Capilano, and then the Stars won the 3rd place match 29-17 against UVic.
Emma Hennessy led all try-scorers with eight, while Issy Scholtens, Angharad De Smet, Sammi Thiessen and Lexi Pusch added multiple scores during two days. Sani Levale accounted for 35 points on 15 conversions and a try.
