Typically, TRB would be collating schedules for spring-based college conferences during the winter break. But today, inquiries around the impending spring 2021 season center on whether Covid-19 is canceling competitions altogether. The West Coast conferences traditionally play the first league games of the new year, so they’re the first stop for updates.

The Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference (PMRC) includes Division I colleges in four states: California and Arizona in the western pool, and Washington and Oregon in the northern pool. Conference commissioner Ellen Owens provided the following update:

We will be checking in with our teams after the beginning of the year, in January. Some of the universities have already signaled that the spring may be like the fall with no sanctioned sport club activity.

We have not put together any schedules yet, instead waiting to see how many, if any, teams are in a position to compete, and what the timing looks like.

We are most interested is student athlete safety during this pandemic, so we do not want league play taking place until it is safe to do so.

The PMRC includes Chico State, Fresno State, Oregon State, Stanford, Cal, UC Davis, Univ. Oregon, Univ. Washington, Washington State and Western Washington Univ.
