Job Purpose:The Head Coach of the Women’s National Sevens Team shall identify and develop athletes, coachthe Teamforallresidencytrainings,camps,tournamentsandmatches,andguidethe overall direction of the Team, as set forth in greater detail below. The Head Coach will also be expected to serve as a mentor to players and other coaches interested in being involved in the Women’s National Sevens program. This individual will work closely with the Women’s 15s National Team in coordination with the Women’s Eagles XVs head coach.

Essential Job Functions:• Liaise with USA Rugby General Manager of High Performance and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) High-Performance staff in developing a multi-year program for the Women’s National Sevens Team that includes athlete identification, training and competition.• Design, plan and implement a coaching program that supports participants’ development needs including: annual planning incorporating periodization, team and individual player development; game plan’s designed around the composition and ability of the team, opponent and environmental characteristics; and session planning based on evaluation of team and individual play.• Be responsible for all Eagles National Sevens Team selection, management, culture and discipline.• Identify, assess, recruit and develop player talent.• Analyze team and player performance levels and progress against program/sessiongoals using a variety of methods including statistical and video-based analysis of the team and individual players.

• Involve players in analysis of performance needs and aspirations.

• Apply an effective combination of personal attributes and skills to manage andfacilitate a dynamic and diverse team environment.

• Communicate clearly, proactively, and honestly with all partners, particularly athletescominginto, during,andexitingfromtheresidencyprogram.Ensure that players are fit to participate based on appropriate medical advice and againstappropriate playingfitnessstandardsassetbytheUSARugbyAssistantCoach.• Assist as may be necessary and appropriate in media, Public Relations and Commercial partner fulfillment as well as fundraising efforts for USA Rugby Women’s National Sevens team.• Attend multiple fund-raising events per year.• Present at the National Development Summit (or equivalent) and attend USA Rugbyplayer and coach development clinics on a regular basis as determined by GeneralManager – High Performance.• Model, teach and reinforce ethical behavior throughout the program.• Demonstrate sound fiscal management illustrated by monitoring and staying within the established annual budget for Women’s Sevens.

• Follow all rules of World Rugby, USOPC or International Olympic Committee.• Agree and review key performance indicators with USA Rugby’s GM of High Performance and the USOPC’s High Performance Staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:Direct Reports:

  • All coaches in the Women’s National Sevens program;
  • All Age-Grade Women’s coaches in relation to athlete development, and corealignment with the Women’s national program;
  • Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coaches/Interns.

Works closely internally with:

• Women’s National Team Athletes, Head Coach (XVs) and Assistant Coaches, Medical Staff, National Age-Grade coaches, USA Rugby Academy (camps), Women’s National Team Manager(s), HP Services Manager, Women’s National Program staff, USA Rugby Philanthropy, etc., and the GM of Commercial.

Works closely externally with:• Top collegiate and club teams, National Tracking Camp partners, Talent ID projects and initiatives, Eagle Eye Scout Network & Pathway managers, (or equivalent), World Rugby, USOPC, Golden Eagles (or equivalent support group), and commercial partners.
