On May 4-5*, the USA Club Rugby Super Regional Championships (SRCs) will be taking place in four locations around the country, and they will produce national semifinalists in multiple men’s and women’s competitions. Those quartets will meet two weeks later (May 17-19), and the women’s sphere will name Division I and Division II national champions.

USA Club Rugby has not made an official statement yet, but per Mid-America GU President Sean Cox, the national championships will be held in Austin, Texas.

The news brief also includes important location information for the Northern SRC, which was supposed to be hosted by the Rocky Mountain GU this year. Evidently, a site could not be secured in Rocky Mountain, so the leadership shifted the May 4-5 regional playoffs to the Chicago Blaze facility in Lemont, Ill. For the women’s competition, this information impacts the Division II only. (South Buffalo and Grand Rapids have already qualified and were expecting trips to Denver, so this information is of particular importance to their already-underway planning). The Women’s DI competition in this region — i.e., the Midwest — sends its champion (Pittsburgh Forge) directly to the national semifinals.

The three other SRCs are being held in Wilmington, Del. (Atlantic)*, Austin (Gulf Coast) and Las Vegas (Pacific).

As a bonus, Cox shared that the USA Club Rugby 7s National Championship will occur Aug. 9-11 in Madison, Wis. Presumably, the Wisconsin Rugby Sports

Complex is the venue, as it has hosted 7s nationals previously.

Again, official announcements should be coming from USA Club Rugby.

*The Atlantic SRC is actually a two-weekend championship, new this year. On April 20, the Capital and New England GUs host, and then the winners head to the EPRU site on May 4.
