STANFORD RUGBY, CA – As members of the rugby community, we understand the importance of fostering well-rounded players both on and off the field. This year, we want to take that a step further and start pouring into the next generation of ruggers in our community. Stanford Rugby is proud to announce our first ever Rugby and Reading program this fall.

“Stanford is one of the top academic institutions in the world and in my opinion, has the best rugby facility in America,” Stanford Director of Rugby Rich Ashfield said. “We want to share this with our local rugby community and reinforce that rugby can be a vehicle to help them grow and learn. Supporting and helping to grow the game in our area is important to us. We are excited to develop our broader Stanford community and foster a sense of belonging through rugby.”

Rugby and Reading will host Bay Area middle schoolers, free of charge, on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for an hour of tutoring and an hour of training. Featuring Stanford Rugby players and coaches, the program will run for six weeks beginning October 25. All sessions will take place at Steuber Rugby Stadium on the Stanford University campus. Students can register for one or all of the weeks by clicking here.

We look forward to partnering with the community and fostering both the mind and body of the next generation.
