PRESS RELEASE – National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) will bring the largest collegiate all-star events back to Texas in January 2023. Held over two consecutive weekends, Houston and Austin will host the best men’s and women’s collegiate players from across the nation.

The Men’s All-Star Shield Challenge is scheduled for January 14-15 at the Houston Sabercats’ AVEVA Stadium. The men’s tournament will feature regional all-star teams, as well as Rising Star sides, that will be formed through regional tryouts and coach nominations.

The 2022 men’s tournament included over 330 players representing 130 schools across Division I, Division II and Small College. The New England Red team were crowned 2022 Champions after defeating the Pacific Coast Grizzlies 18-8 in the final.

The Women’s All Star 7s National Cup will take place on January 21-22 at the Round Rock Sports Center in Austin. The competition structure will include conference-based all-star teams competing in multiple divisions.

In 2022, more than 200 student-athletes from 65 schools competed in the women’s tournaments. The Texas Lonestar Conference took home the Division I Championship while the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union were Small College champions.

NCR will announce additional information about the men’s and women’s teams in the coming weeks and release final rosters in early January.
