USA Pathway 7s Camp Underway

Legacy Cup Women's Elite Rugby

Currently there is a USA Pathways 7s Camp underway at the Chula Vista Elite Training Center in Southern California. Nineteen rugby players are working with Pathway staff from Dec. 27-Jan. 1, and they hail from hometowns in California (6), Utah (3), Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and New Zealand. The NCAA and DIA varsity spaces are well represented, with 10 current student-athletes or recent graduates in attendance. There are also three collegians from the CRAA (UCSD, UCSB) and NCR (Texas Tech) competitions representing the collegiate club segment.

In the senior club realm, Erica Coulibaly stands out as the 2024 WPL National Championship MVP and as one of the “foundational five” for the WER Denver team. MarCaya Bailous’ hometown is listed in California, but the SoCal native has been in Ohio for a while now. She plays all the rugby formats and earlier this year won one of the USA National Rugby League Combine spots to Australia. Aly Namosimalua, who started playing in high school with the Sacramento Amazons, has played DIA ball, internationally with Rhinos and most recently featured in the PR 7s event in Portland. There are also three new faces from Utah’s Rocky Mountain Peaks (2) and the DII San Jose Seahawks of USA Club Rugby.
