USA U20s & U23s Seek Head Coaches

USA Rugby is searching for head coaches to lead the USA Women’s U20 and USA Women’s U23 programs. The positions were previously held by Ricardo Ramirez (U20) and Katie Dowty (U23). Below are both job descriptions, and for application links, click: U20 and U23.

Head Coach, USA Rugby Women’s U20 Head Coach

Type: Contract – Stipend

Location: Camps, tours, otherwise remote location

Time Commitment: Annual remote program, work required weekly basis, full-time commitment when in assembly.

Description of Duties

The USA Rugby Women’s U20 Head Coach will oversee the Women’s U20 team in accordance with the Women’s Junior National Team program. They will consult with the Women’s High Performance Director and Women’s High Performance Pathways Manager in all related matters including: Scouting, Coaching, Competition and Camp and Camp and Competition Planning and Execution.

Primary Tasks

  • Designing, planning, implementing, and documenting a coaching program that supports participants’ development needs including: annual planning incorporating periodization, team and individual player development, game planning, analysis of opponent and environmental characteristics, and session planning based on evaluation of team and individual play, in accordance with the American Rugby Model and the Women’s HP Long Term Athlete Development Plan
  • Analyzing, assessing, and documenting team and player performance levels and progress against program/session goals using a variety of methods including notational, statistical and video based systems.
  • Involving participants in analysis of performance needs and aspirations.
  • Ensuring players are fit to participate based on appropriate medical advice and as measured against appropriate playing fitness standards.
  • Working in conjunction with the High Performance Pathways Department, cooperate in the management of administrative and logistical support for the program, staff and players including maintenance of team plan, assessment of progress against plan and periodic reporting.

Secondary Tasks

  • Partnering with the Coach Development Program to assist in the USA Rugby Coach Shadow Program and assisting where required in technical coaching seminars, regional academies, and coach development opportunities to improve the standard of coaching throughout the United States.
  • Assisting in the evolution of High Performance Player Pathways to enhance USA Rugby Elite Player Programs.
  • Working with identified National Development Programs (NDPs) to support coach and player development efforts
  • Support fundraising and other programs to ensure success of the Women’s u20 program.

Authority

  • Reports to: Women’s High Performance Pathways Manager
  • Direct Reports: Assistant Coaches
  • Works closely with: National Senior coaches, Women’s High Performance Director; Medical staff, Women’s u18s XV Head Coach, Women’s u23 XVs and 7s Head Coaches.
  • Works regularly with: high school and collegiate coaches and parents.
