GLENDALE, CO – Following an application and evaluation period, USA Rugby Training & Education collaborated with community stakeholders to appoint seven Regional Administrators across the country to support organization between USA Rugby headquarters and community educators.

TRAINING & EDUCATION

REGIONAL ADMINISTRATORS

Name – Region, Contact

Lisa Rosen – Central, education-central@usa.rugby

Shannon Bustillos – Midwest, education-midwest@usa.rugby

Mike Hodgins – Northeast, education-northeast@usa.rugby

Adriaan Ferris – Northwest, education-northwest@usa.rugby

Mary Swanstrom – South, education-south@usa.rugby

Frederic Bardot – Southeast, education-southeast@usa.rugby

Pieter Hugo – Southwest, education-southwest@usa.rugby

Each representative will serve as contact for Training & Education activities in each region and begin reaching out to all local stakeholders over the coming weeks. As in-person courses look to resume in November, Regional Administrators become crucial in compliance with COVID-19 safety measures. As part of the USA Rugby restructure, several stakeholder committees were produced to reform and increase Training & Education across the rugby community.

Through the summer, USA Rugby collaborated with representatives from each level of play to discuss best practices and better coordinate between the National Office and community educators. Representatives from the Youth & High School, College, Senior Club and Referee sectors were notably included in these workshops. As a result of those discussions, the above Training & Education Regional Administrator roles were developed.

While administration of Training & Education will become regional, stakeholder workshops agreed there must be a degree of central coordination. This way each area of the game is sharing best practices, distributing appropriate curriculum and not duplicating activities. Overall organization of these elements will lie with the Regional Administrators going forward.

USA Rugby Training & Education Director, Jamie McGregor noted:

“Many thanks to the representatives from Youth and High School, College, Senior Club and Referee societies who assisted in recruiting these Regional Administrators. At this crucial time, when we are reshaping how Training & Education operates across the country, we sought out individuals with significant experience as World Rugby Educators and Trainers, who therefore know both the suite of World Rugby courses and rugby landscape in their region. We’re pleased to land seven outstanding individuals to support this programming.”
