GLENDALE, CO – USA Rugby has opened the nomination process to accept applications for Independent Director seats on its Board of Directors, to be seated upon election.

Founded in 1975, USA Rugby is the national governing body of the sport of Rugby in the United States. It is charged with developing and maintaining high levels of quality for USA youth, collegiate, amateur, professional and Olympic rugby programs. USA Rugby is a full-sport member of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, along with World Rugby.

The Nominating Committee is conducting an open-ended search and nominating process in which applications will be received and evaluated until four independent directors are elected.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help lead a growing global and Olympic sport toward development and presence in the United States market at a community and elite level. There is enormous potential in both the female and male game of rugby.

The search will target five known areas of expertise: Commercial and Media rights, Legal, Finance and Corporate Operations & Governance; however, all interested parties are encouraged to apply. These target areas will evolve as individual Directors are elected and the balance of skills and expertise required changes.

Successful candidates will have previous executive level and corporate governance experience in the areas targeted with national for-profit or non-profit entities. Additionally, executive level experience in leading company efforts to achieve diversity goals will be considered. Ideally, successful candidates will have extensive networks in the corporate world. Successful candidates will also exemplify USA Rugby’s core values and will possess a passion for American sports at every level of the game.

The reorganized Board of Directors will consist of four Independent Directors, four International Athlete representatives, and three representatives of USA Rugby’s Community Rugby Council. It will be responsible for overseeing USA Rugby’s emergence from bankruptcy and for developing and implementing the reorganized and re-focused strategic and operational plans of the organization.

The Nominating Committee invites interested parties to submit their application via this link as immediately.

Applications will be accepted until all four positions are filled, but not later than September 15, 2020.
