The Women’s Elite Rugby (WER) 2026 season is set to begin on May 2-3 and the six member teams have released their full rosters.

 

 

More than 200 players have signed for the second-ever WER season, and teams are carrying rosters in mid- to high-30s.

There has been a decent amount of turnover in the league as a whole. There is a contingent of stalwarts — the Ali Gillbergs, Betty Nguyens, Jeanna Beards of the world — who were part of the inaugural pro season but not currently reflected on team lists. And many if not all of the USA Eagles who play in England-based Premier Women’s Rugby league did not re-sign — although there will be a mid-season playing signing that could see some of those overseas players filter into the domestic league.

There are, however, a handful of current Eagles and USA pool players who are coming off of the Pacific Four Series, as well as retired USA players, sprinkled throughout the league. And with the later start to the season, graduating college seniors have been able to sign with franchises from the onset. It’s exciting to see Kate Boggs, for example, sign with the Boston Banshees before graduating the Coast Guard Academy and becoming an ensign.

Be mindful that teams have not updated their rosters on their WER website pages yet, so only use them for references to 2025.

Coaching wise, all of the teams’ head coaches have remained the same save Chicago Tempest, which promoted Kristin Zdanczewicz from assistant to head coach ahead of the season.
