Two major college rugby competitions reach their pinnacle this weekend, and the USA Women’s 7s team kicks off the 2023-24 HSBC SVNS season in Dubai. There’s also a USA Falcons team competing in the companion invitational tournament and those fixtures (and roster) will be added once released by USA Rugby. In the senior club field, the annual Mary Graham All-Star tournament in Texas is happening in Austin. Livestream links included when known.

UC Santa Cruz 19, Santa Clara University 5 at UCSC
Game played under cloudy skies with some light drizzle. Lots of handling errors, plenty of hard tackles for both teams. UCSC dominated in the scrums, won numerous ball against the head. Maya Murphy, SC’s flyhalf, scored an unconverted try on a long run that put the score at 7-5, but in favor of the Slugs, after the home team went ahead quickly 7 – 0 at about two minutes of play. 12-5 was the score at half time. UCSC added another try in second half, in which they were planted in BREWs territory most of the time. Slug forward pack to much to handle for the visitors.
