The Women’s Premier League (WPL) has named 23 players to represent the WPL All-Stars against the Te Tai Tokerau Natives on Saturday, Nov. 11. The contest will be the New Zealanders’ third match while on tour of the western U.S. and will occur at the Starfire Stadium in Tukwila, Wash.

The U.S.-based side comprises 13 forwards and 10 backs, and they hail from all seven WPL teams. The roster includes team captains, USA Eagles, 2023 national champions, young rising talent and the Heart of the WPL Award winner. The impressive group will be coached by New York’s Karameli Fa’ae’e, Berkeley’s Hannah Stolba and Colorado Gray Wolves’ Mose Timoteo.

The match marks the first time the WPL All-Stars are playing an international team, having played domestic sides since coming to life in 2017. And for Te Tai Tokerau Natives, the U.S. tour is also a first and begins with a Nov. 5 match against Berkeley and then Nov. 8 game against the ROOTS. At Starfire, the Pacific Northwest U23s will play a 2:30 p.m. curtain-raiser against the Vancouver Thunderbirds, and the main event is at 5 p.m. Follow @wpl.rugby for updates.

  • This is such a great concept we need more of here in the US. Would love to see more of WPL All-Star matches but with a Native American outreach and, of course, American Pacific Islanders.
