The Philadelphia region is creating four new single-school programs, for both boys and girls, and the coaching search is on. League organizers have not made an official announcement yet, and thus the specific schools have not been publicly circulated. However, all four charter schools are located in the Center City, Germantown and Kingsessing neighborhoods of Philadelphia.

Of the four charter schools, three are still looking for a girls’ head coach, and that’s where Kate Flanagan comes in. The Penn State standout transitioned to coaching after graduation, and currently aligns with PA United and Atlantis.

“I am spearheading the hunt for coaches for the girls teams so I can be sure that the girls in these schools don’t get left behind,” Flanagan explained. “The teams will practice Monday and/or Wednesday after school and will play on Fridays after school. The hope is that this will allow a current [senior] club player to coach as well.”

Flanagan also explained that coaches would receive a lot of support in their roles, including coaching certification in February 2019, if needed, access to practice plans, and more.

Interested parties should contact Kate Flanagan at krf5092@gmail.com for more information.
