Cavalier Named PR7s VP of Ops

(NEW YORK, June 2, 2021) Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s), the newly announced league that will feature North America’s top female and male athletes, today announced the hiring of Kellie Cavalier as their Vice President of Operations. With an impressive background in the sports industry, Cavalier will help lead PR7s’ organizational equality and inclusion, plus oversee game-day operations, team logistics, fan experience, and ticketing.

Cavalier spent more than nine years with USA Rugby where she rose to the position of VP of International Events and oversaw the venue operations for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in San Francisco. Most recently, she worked with 11th Hour Racing where she helped establish strategic partnerships in the sailing and maritime communities with the mission to restore ocean health.

“Kellie has consistently demonstrated the ability to execute amazing and well-attended rugby events, from the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco to the Rugby Weekend All Blacks vs. Ireland in Chicago,” said Owen Scannell, Founder and CEO of Premier Rugby Sevens. “She will play an important role in fulfilling our mission and instilling our vision that will lead to a sustainable league that our players and fans will enjoy for years to come.”

Starting with a pilot season in the fall of 2021, PR7s will feature many U.S. players who played in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and are expected to play in the Tokyo Olympics this summer. The league’s first player signings feature several stars from both the U.S. Men’s and U.S. Women’s National Sevens Teams, including Perry Baker, Danny Barrett, Abby Gustaitis,Carlin Isles, Ilona Maher, Folau Niua, Naya Tapper, and Stephen Tomasin.
