AZ Wildcats Seek Women’s Head Coach

The University of Arizona Women’s Rugby Team is seeking a head coach to lead the Division I program for the 2022 season. The Wildcats compete in Division I of the Collegiate Rugby Association of America (CRAA) and play competitive 15s in the spring. Job Description *Arizona Rugby is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead Women’s Rugby into the 2022 season. This individual will be tasked with gameday and off-field operations for all aspects of the team while working with the Director of Rugby to grow the game locally, nationally, and internationally. This position is renewable on an annual basis based on the meeting of position expectations and program performance.

The candidate chosen for this position will be expected to support diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the department and university.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesOn-Field Instruction & Preparation (70%)-Oversee a roster of approximately 30 student athletes through off season, preseason, and in-season.

-Recruit and retain student-athletes from both on-campus and high school player pools domestically and internationally.-Plan, organize, and operate on-field training sessions.-Plan, organize, and secure competitions in both Fifteens and Sevens for the 2021-2022 academic year.

-Attend all training and competitions both in and out of state, including frequent evenings and weekends.

-Complete Campus Recreation and USA Rugby requirements for coaches.-Referring student athletes to campus resource and programs.

Off-field Development (15%)-Identification, engagement, and development of Women’s Rugby alumni in support of Director of Rugby.

-Plan, organize, and operate events for both alumni and family while coordinating with both on and off campus entities.-Coordination and leadership development with Women’s Rugby club officers.-Promotion of Women’s Rugby to the university and Tucson community.

Reporting/Miscellaneous (15%)-Prepare reports for Director detailing recruitment and development progress.-Coordinate with on-campus entities including Campus Recreation, Campus Health, and Residence Life.

Required Qualifications *-Bachelor’s Degree & excellent interpersonal skills.-Previous coaching experience in Rugby at the high school/collegiate level.

-Active or easily renewable SafeSport certification-USA Rugby Level 200 coach certification.

Preferred Qualifications*-Head Coach experience at the collegiate or high school level.-Proven ability to relate well with students, coaches, and university staff.-Previous experience in a development-oriented, performance training environment.

-Previous training or experience in a professional education setting.-USA Rugby Level 300 coach certification.
