With just a six-day turnaround, the Eagles are primed to build off the momentum of their dramatic win in Dublin, where their execution saw the team come back to overtake the 5th-ranked hosts. The opener moved the USA Women’s Eagles up to 6th in the World Rugby rankings, cementing their momentum as act 2 of WXV approaches.

Speaking on last week’s win and looking forward to Wales, head coach Jack Hanratty commented:

“A win can be massive for the group and although we were in a battle, the energy since (last week) has been vibrant. Not just because of the win but because of the potential.”

“We have the opportunity to go three international wins in a row, which is no easy feat but this is a real challenge.”

Wales is coming off a win over South Africa and will be looking to show dominance at home.

“Wales showed massive dominance and look like they have a new DNA when they played South Africa last weekend – which are a team that we had a real arm wrestle with this past summer,” Hanratty added. “The quick six-day turnaround for us, versus an eight-day for Wales, is big in preparation so this week we have to get right.”

Retaining the core lineup from last Sunday, slight adjustments have been made to the Eagles starting XV. After making her USA debut off the bench last week, Nina Mason starts at flyhalf while Life University teammate Bella Vogel shifts to inside center and Emily Henrich moves to outside center. Katana Howard joins the bench to bring on power and pace in the backline in the second act.

Following their European tour, the USA women will assemble stateside in October to resume preparations for 3 home games rounding out the 5 match WXV Global Series circuit.

Tickets to see the USA Women’s Eagles take on Italy in Mansfield, Texas, just one month away on October 17 and again in Nashville, Tenn., on the 24th; as well as a Rugby World Cup rematch against England’s Red Roses in New Jersey’s Sports Illustrated Stadium are on sale now.
